ungrouping and editing charts 2007

I have been pasting  excel charts using "paste special" and "enhanced
metafile" format  in order to ungroup and edit individual items

When I ungroup an excel chart in ppt2007 I find that the axes are converted
to boxes instead of lines. This is very frustrating as it means I can't alter
the line width without going through and replacing each axis with a line. Is
there a way to fix this? I didn't have this problem in previous versions

thanks

There's no way around this that I'm aware of. It's the price we paid in
order to get better looking charts (the ability to use the nice new
gradients and drop shadows on chart elements, for example).

which admittedly are very nice to use....but it's still frustrating to lose
some favorite features from the earlier version  such as being able to
completely ungroup a graph and edit each item easily without losing too much
formatting

Many thanks for your quick reply Echo S

Oh, don't get me wrong -- I totally agree!

Would it be possible for you to just adjust the height of the rectangle
instead of replacing it with an actual line?

Oh, I guess not. .01" is as narrow as it goes.

Removing the line on the axis-rectangle makes it much thinner, but I'm just
grasping for workarounds -- replacing the thing with a line is definitely
the best solution.

I wonder if one of the code geeks <smile> could come up with something that
would replace those axis rectangles with lines. What are you doing with the
tickmarks? (Or do you get to delete those? If so...luck-yyy!)

You're very welcome.
