You should be able to control this with the Slide Show/Slide
Transition effect. For example, select Fade Smoothly, with a Slow
Speed, an Advance Slide timing to suit and click on the Apply to all
Slides button to apply.
All of the Custom Automations applied to individual objects will need
to be removed, if there are any, for this to work correctly.

Thank you so much Tom! One more question for you. I know that I can zoom in
on a picture by selecting empasis> grow/shrink. Can I reverse as well to
zoom out >shrink? Thanks again!

Have a look at our free add in here which uses zoom in and out animations.
Maybe it will help. We also have a tutorial on exactly how to do this if you
cannot work it out (not quite free).
