How can I remove "click to add text" from a shape?

Don't worry about it - it isn't displayed.  It only shows in the Edit
pane.  If it really bothers you, just add a single space character.

if you really don't want it. just delete the place holder.

If you are using 2007 version you can alter the text to anything you like.

If you have an earlier version then if you don't want text go to Format >
Layout and choose a layout without text placeholders.
