Thanks Lucy for responding. I am using MP 2002.
I can see the text when I click in the text box, but the background turns
blue.
I am not highlighting text at this point.
If I click on the box border the blue goes away, but if I click in again the
background turns blue again. I can edit the text, but I would prefer to have
the standard white background. I have looked at every option I can find and
am not able to remove the color. If I start a new slide the blue is not
present.

It's probably still a difference between the slide color scheme and what's
set for the background / text colors there. If you read that FAQ and try the
steps under "the fix," it should resolve the problem. But it might cause you
more problems, especially if objects have been assigned the color.
