Depending on your version of PowerPoint programs, you Mac friends could probably down load the free viewer. See here for what works with what http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00153.htm

Amelia,as I know,you don’t have to save it to animation.I saw a friend of
mine burning their presentation to Video or DVD,and play the burned Video or
DVD on Video player or TV without powerpoint even computer, and I think it’s
cool.I remember that he used a ppt to video
burner(http://www.dvd-ppt-slideshow.com/ppt-to-video/) to make it.May be it
can help you.

Package for CD won't work on Mac computers. It packages a Windows version of the
viewer that won't run on Macs.
And the PPT viewer for Mac hasn't been updated since before OS X came out; it only
supports PPT features up to PPT 98, and may not even run on newer Macs.
This is one of those cases where converting to Flash or HTML probably IS the best
solution.

Amelia.
Converting ppt to flash is sensible, after being converted, the flash can be
uploaded to some sharesite, such Youtube, then just ask your friend to view
your presentation on the site.
If converting powerpoint to html, the animation in the ppt file may be lost
or turn to be an icon that can't not play.
