When I convert my pub file to PDF the WordArt comes up
missing. Is there a patch for this?

What program are you using to create your .pdf file?

Hi anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com

There are no known issues converting over the WordArt (hence no need for a
patch). How are you creating your PDF? Are you creating a *.ps file then
distilling? Or are you sending to distiller direct? Do you have your Adobe
Acrobat options set up properly?

Hi Darci,
I have just received the software from ms so that we can accept pub files.
Since I need to do a little experimenting, I would like to receive a few
troublesome files to play with. If you file is small enough to email I
would be happy to have a look.
Your problem might just be a distiller setting.

IMHO WordArt causes a number of problems.

try converting it to a picture and using that instead (right click Word Art
object, convert to picture, save as Tagged Image Format File (tiff).

If the result is to end up on a printing press, change the resolution to 300
dpi. if going to a desktop printer, 150 should work fine (the default) and
if just for email/web use then 96 would be the choice.

In my experience Mac, I have NEVER had WordArt NOT appear on my output when
distilled. I must add in addtion, the WordArt in 2002/03 has been a far
better QUALITY output (detail) vs. the old Publisher 2000 and older WordArt.

But I agree that WordArt CAN be an issue. There is a registry fix available
for Publisher 2002/2003  users that will convert legacy WordArt to a graphic
for prepress use.

Most WordArt problems seem to be due to the font which was originally used
being missing. Publisher doesn't report fonts used in WordArt in Commercial
Printing Tools>Fonts.

Are you sure that the original font is present? Does the file print on a
desktop printer?
