Spot colors in composite work flow

Hi,
Our prepress is direct to plate. So we use a composite workflow (postscript
or PDF). When I get a publisher file that calls for spot colors I have to use
many work arounds because the composite file will come out as CMYK. Are there
any fixes for this.

You'll probably have to produce separated output and recombine it after
the fact, using a product like Seps2Comp. (I would welcome being told
I'm wrong aboyt this ...)
