Setting Options in Design Checker before Starting Design Checker?

Hello All,

Running: Publisher 2003 SP2

Is there a way to set the options for Design Checker before running Design
Checker? The problem is that my pub is loaded with graphics and lines and it
takes a good +.5 hr for Design Checker to finish. I would like to set the
options before running and, of course save those options in the publication.
It would be awesome if I could set Design Checker options at the Application
level, so that all my pubs can be validated against one standard.

Let me know if I can offer any clarification.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Open help, type Design Checker, the first entry will have the answers you need.

Hello Mary,

Good to see you again.

I did as instructed and got the following hit (pardon the messy paste):
-------
Troubleshoot using the Design Checker
Show All
Hide All
Publisher is slower after I run the Design Checker.

Once you start the Design Checker, it continues to work in the background,
even if you go to another task pane. This may affect performance in Microsoft
Publisher. To stop the Design Checker running in the background, do the
following:

On the Tools menu, click Design Checker.
In the Design Checker task pane, click Close Design Checker.

Some checks may also cause slow performance in Publisher, especially if the
publication has a large number of pages. To increase performance, disable the
following checks:

Object is not visible
Page cannot be reached from first page (Web publications only)

How?

On the Tools menu, click Design Checker.
In the Design Checker task pane, click Design Checker Options.
Click the Checks tab.
Find the check you want to disable, and then clear the check box next to it.
Repeat this step for all checks you want to disable.
Click OK.
---------

I can't get to the Design Checker Options because the status bar is modal
and still showing Working.....
My pub is huge and full or small graphics, so I need uncheck the default
options and, hopefully, create an Application-wide setting for Design Checker.

Please let me know if I am missing something.

Thanks for the help.

I understand what you are saying. Open a new publication. Open the design
checker options, disable all the stuff you don't want checked. This should stick
for other publications, at least it does for me. The General tab options will
not stick but the Checks do.

P.S. I should add, save the publication you modified with the Design Checker. I
don't believe the modifications will stick if you don't...
