When adding multiple colors to an auto shape, for example BLACK fading to
WHITE, and select WHITE to be transparent, it looks correct on the design
page, but not on the print preview page or when printed.  Instead, the
objects or pictures underneath the transparent portion of the auto shape
cannot be seen.

This is a well-known problem.  This is not the correct forum for it - this
forum is for programming issues (VBA coding and using the Object Model)
Publisher.  Some have claimed that some printer drivers will let the
transparency print properly. A workaround is to save each page as a 300dpi
PNG file in Publisher 2003 and print that instead.
