I need to lean more about programming VB in Publisher, particularly assigning
events to objects and shapes in the document. Could anyone recommend the best
reading for this.

Thanks

I know of precisely 0 books on this topic.

I suggest you read the Publisher Object Model documentation (c:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\1033\VBAPB10.CHM), and Andrew May's
series of technical articles on programming Publisher at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/office/program/publisher/2003/

I also have a couple of articles on Publisher programming at my website.
