How open Pub Office 2000 docs fromW98 in XP

I have doc in old W98, Microsoft Publisher Office 2000. I want to open them
in my laptop with XP. I copied them from old W98 computer on a CD, buit cna't
open it correctly in XP?

Copy  from the CD to a local hard drive then change the attributes from
read only to read/write then open it.

Basically Win 98 and WinXP read and write quite compatibly.

Some soft ware, in fact lots of software, cannot handle files written by
new versions of the same software  but it is nothing to do with the
operating system.
