What I'd like to do is click on

www.ABC.org <= Not actual, illustration only.

and have website

http://www.osiaglnw.org/localunitsite.cfm?LCID=20

pop open.

I'm thinking of creating the domain www.ABC.org

and besides gaining hundreds of e-mail addresses for a specific group and
using the new domain as a means of shortening the existing website address.
The ABC is a factious name, just used as an illustration.  The existing
address with it's essay size for the address is a bit difficult to relay in
conversation where as even this ole soul can remember the ABC.

Can be done?

Ed? Jo? John? David? Sarah? "Down Under" David?

BTW, using Publisher 2000 on Windows 98SE

Well first you have to by the domain name. I myself use
http://www.hostway.com for domains at 6.95/yr.
If you are going to have the domain hosted then you would load a page that
has a simple redirect tag in it so when it's hit it redirects to the other
url.
If all you want is the name only and have no hosting for it then you simple
order the domain from a registrar that offers forwarding and have the domain
forwarded.
For example visit http://www.davidbartosik.org
You'll find it forwards to davidbartosik.com
The latter being the real hosted site, the prior being a domain name ordered
from Hostway and Hostway at no cost forwards for me.
Try the .net version too.

Some registrars charge for forwards. Some charge for a masked forward which
is framing. For example visit http://www.barvin.net - it loads barvin.com but
the URL remains barvin.net.

Thanks David.

I was hoping for something like,

http://www.ABC.org > http://www.osiaglnw.org/localunitsite.cfm?LCID=20

But I'll see about the IP providing a forwarding service.

Presently using a note on an old site address to redirect to the new
address, i.e.,

http://www.pacifier.com/~dschmidt/osia_vancouver_usa/

Take care,
