web preview good, wrong html code when opened in ftp.

Using Publisher 2000...When I open web preview all the
pages look exactly as designed. When I transfer to FTP
and open the pages to view html code there is code from
other pages, some correct html, old html from previous
web versions, distorted photos, but in general way too
much in very wrong sequences, etc. What a mess! I did not
check the html code before transfering the first two
pages thus you can go to the website and see the results.
Here's the website address www.scryker.com the index
page and page2(the artist)are the only two I transfered
all others are the old pages and they are fine. When I
updated the site I did change the size of the pages, but
I cannot see how this would effect the html. Anyone have
solutions? I really need to get this site repared asap.

You could do a complete rebuild of the site by deleting all the files of the
website except the pub file on your computer. Then open the pub file and do
a File, Save as a web page. This recreates all the website files.
Next fire up your ftp, go to your url, delete all the files there and do a
re-upload of the newly created html and image files. If this doesn't cure
the problem take a look at your pub file and verify none of the text and
image boxes overlap any of the other boxes. If they do, un-overlap them.
Resave the file and then re-upload.

In addition to what Don said, you might also delete all the old files in the
Publish folder on your hard drive, where you generate the HTML code, before
you Save as a Web Page, to make sure there are no remnants of your old code.

Margaret,

In addition to Don's suggestion about cleaning up your website, I noticed
when I viewed your site that you have a lot of overlapping elements. If you
overlap a JPG and a text box, the result is one larger, lower quality GIF
image. Not only will the images be lower quality, but the text starts
looking real fuzzy. In fact when I went to

I noticed the entire page is just one large GIF image, text and all. I am
not sure you meant to do this or not, but as I use a slower loading dial up
connection at this computer, I can see the text loading in bits and pieces
just like the images.

If you want to test each page, try right clicking any text. If you get the
option Save Picture As, then the text has been converted to an image.

Part of the reason I perused your site, was I lived in Indiana for the first
30+ years of my life...
