Publisher 2002 SP3 killed my hyperlinks

I upgraded to Publisher 2002 SP3 as recommended, and I see that it appears to
convert a lot of text boxes to image files (is that what makes them load
faster?). But I have URL and mailto hyperinks in many of those text boxes and
they no longer work. How do I fix that ?

Interestingly, *some* textboxes were NOT converted to image files and the
hyperlinks work there still.

Hopefully its just a magic setting someplace now in SP3 ...

Publisher 2002 SP1 - SP3 does not support hyperlinks in a "filled" text box
or a "bordered" text box. Basically any decorated text box.

If you prefer to use the original code technology of 2002 after upgrading to
SP1-SP3 you can do so by using File, Save as, (select from save as file
type) Web Page (htm, html).

As this old news of the 2002 code issues is new news to you I recommend you
publish in both the new code and the old code and compare site file size. A
typical 2002 html file would be around 400 kb, under 2002 SP1-SP3 that would
be reduced to something in the 40 kb - 100kb range.

You are much better off to redo your design, in other words I recommend you
switch your link to be straight text and drop the box decoration, then to
use the larger code size in Publisher 2002.

fwiw version 2003 fixed the text box fill issue.

Hi David,
Appreciate all the help, one last hump for me to get over, how
specifically do I "switch your link to be straight text and drop the box
decoration" ?
I agree with you better to use the SP3 features and adjust to them ..
thanks, Jamie

Create a text box, insert text, hyperlink text, and you're done. Do not
proceed to fill or border or anything else the text box.

OK, I have existing text boxes, so for ones that I have links in that I want
to work, I guess I'll need to go into the properties for those text boxes and
remove any fills or borders, etc ...  thanks ,,
