I'm not sure what has happened since the end of March, my Publish to the Web
just sits there with the hour glass. In March my Publish to the Web worked
perfect...many times. Now I can't do a thing, it appears it's not connecting
to the FTP site as it always did. If I leave it sit long enough, I get a
message the file is "read only". My web provider assured me the site is
working correctly.
Bad April fools joke for me! Thanks

I am just guessing here. Have you recently installed the Windows XP Service
Pack 2? After you install Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), some
programs may seem not to work. By default, Windows Firewall is enabled and
blocks unsolicited connections to your computer. This article discusses how
to make an exception and enable a program to run by adding it to the list of
exceptions. This procedure permits the program to work as it did before the
service pack was installed.

If this information helps, please post back. There seems to be an increased
number of people who have been having problems publishing their sites, even
when they used to be able to do so. Perhaps it has something to do with the
Windows Firewall.

Well it seems like I'm having the same problem... although I'm trying to
publish to the web for the first time with the Pub 2003... I go through the
steps according to the instructions and it seems as thought the FTP is not
loading. When I go out on the web it will load correctly so I don't know why
it won't work properly when I want to publish it from Pub 2003. I just
recently downloaded the Windows XP Service but I think it wasn't working
prior to that either... I also went the to
http://search.support.microsoft.com/kb/842242#4 and worked thru those
suggetsions but my firewall was already set to allow publisher... any more
suggestions? Thanks

DavidF has a good question. Let us know.
Otherwise post back on if this occurs before or after you enter your login
to your server account.
You should also verify with the host or by using a file manager control
panel if they offer one, that your file and directory permissions on your
account are correct for reading and writing. Most "sudden" issues like this
are do to changes the host did. Such as a server move or upgrade or security
changes, patch installs, etc.
