I have checked my file associations as suggested and although they assign the
program to open the file with, they don't change the way Publisher opens a
file to preview a web page. ie: open IE
Can you give more instructions on how to change the associations in
Publisher so that instead of opening Media Player, it can be changed back to
IE?
Thanks

Do a publish of the site to your My Documents and then browse to one of the
htm files and double click it. Does it open in IE? If yes then the file
association is fine. You'd want to review the "default browser" settings in
Windows Defaults as Publisher preview looks there.
