Convert multi-page .pub to one page html

Hi,

I wish to convert a multipage pub2003 file to html. My pub file is 22 pages
and I donot wish to publish 22 separate pages, which is what happens if I use
the save as option in pub. I desire a single page of html.

I did save it as a .doc and it came in as a single page, but the "pages" are
in incorrect order and I would have to go through and identify the text and
move it around in blocks to put it in the correct order.

There must be a better way.

1 document page = 1 html file
22 documents pages = 22 html files

Don't create 22 pages if you only want 1.

Well I do not create the pub files. I just try to post it on a web site. I
don't need to reproduce it to the pub quality, just the content, even w/o
images. Why can't I successfully create an orderly doc file from the pub
file? With that I could create my own html page.

Thanks

If the 22 pages in the pub file are linked, change page one to the maximum
size allowable.  This will move all the text to page one. Now delete blank
pages 2 through 22. Now you can shape the new page one to an acceptable
width. Drawback, you may end up with a page 20 feet in length.  You could
also adjust the font size down.

Good luck.

Hey - were you able to figure this out?

I think you are asking too much for a DTP program. (Sorry - that's my
personal opinion.)

I think you are asking too much of ANY program. If you have 22 pages at 8
inches each, then you have 176 inches or a little over 14 and a half feet of
document. Publisher 2003 limits the length of a html page at 48 inches, so
the best you could do is split it over 4 pages.

Thank you - I was afraid that I'd get slammed by people who seem to think
that a single program can do everything except the dishes. But I *am* going
to buy the program that does everything INCLUDING dishes!

You know JoAnn, I don't agree with your opinion about the web building
capability of Publisher. I think that it is more important who wields the
tool, than the tool itself, and have seen some pretty sophisticated,
creative and effective websites built with Publisher. It can be a good tool,
and all some people need to build a basic simple static website. But that is
OT...

I just realized that my initial answer was wrong. The default length of a
web page in Pub 2003 is 48", and when you publish it, it truncates the
length right after the last element on the page. However, you can use the
custom page setup, and apparently set any length you want.

So, Robert, while I have no idea why you would want one page so long, I
guess you could create one page that is long enough to accommodate all your
pages in one instance of Publisher, and copy and paste one page at a time
from the 22 page document opened in a second instance of Publisher.

But surely there is a better solution...why do you want only one page? What
are you trying to do?

I will grant you that even the best software program can produce crap if the
user doesn't know what they are doing. And I still admire the way you help
people with their issues, even if we don't agree on everything.  ;-)

Publisher 2000 has a max length of 20' and a width of 6".  The thought is
mind boggling.  Lets see.....  I'll use #4 font.
