When viewing my Publisher 2003  web site on IE 6, it flashes (once) segments
of text over typically the top of the page, the first time that page
loads.Subsequent page changes don't exhibit this overlayed text. Anything I
can do to elimate this effect?

Sorry, as I understand it this is just the way Pub 2003 works.

David:

I have the same problem with MS Publisher 2007.  Is this also an inherent
quality of Web sites created in Publisher 2007?  Does MS plan to correct this
in a future version?  Thanks.  (Sorry if I should have started a new thread.)

Liz4.0,

I guess it depends on what you are describing. This wasn't absolutely clear
in the original post either.

Pub 2003 and 2007 have basically the same html coding engine, with some
tweaks. 2007 has been improved in a number of ways, but the way it renders
text is much the same. If you view a Publisher built web page with a dial-up
modem, as the page loads, the text can seem to come out of and down from the
left upper corner, and then shift down to the proper place on the page. With
a slow dial-up connection this can be a bit disconcerting, but the reality
is that text loads pretty quickly and efficiently. With a broadband
connection it is hardly noticeable. I guess I don't really see it a being a
problem functionally, and few people have expressed a problem with it
aesthetically.

Will this be changed? I don't know where the next version of Publisher will
take us. We have asked for an improved html coding engine, but not so much
for this reason. Whether we see it, no one knows at this point, but don't
expect to see any radically different updates in Pub 2007.

Now if you are describing something different, post a link to the page in
question, and describe in more detail what the issue is, and we will revisit
your question.

David:

Yes, you described exactly what happens with my site designed with Publisher
07.  I do notice it with my slow dial-up, but assumed, as you suggested, that
with broadband it would be less noticable.

I guess it's just a quirk of the software that we'll live with.  I'm just a
perfectionist, I guess. <grin>

Reading previous questions and your replies on other issues has aided me a
great deal in creating my Web site.  Kudos for helping me and so many others.

I think everything associated with web design is a bit of a trade off, which
makes being a perfectionist hard. But hold onto the fact that at least the
text load quickly...and does get to the "right" place.

Thanks for the kudos...
