Adding page and getting Nav Bar to update

I use Publisher 2002.  I have a simple 8 page website and I just tried to add
another page.  I thought I did it correctly: After I added and created the
page, I checked the box under Tools/Options/Web Options that says "add  
hyperlink to web navigation bar" and I gave the page a title.  But my
navigation bar on my master page did not update automatically to show the new
page.  So then I tried to manually add one, but it is not linked to the new
page when I use the website.  Help!  Thanks.

Allison,

The proper way is that AS you insert a new page, check the option to have it
added to the nav bar. The nav bar wizard then generates the new link on the
nav bar and populates it across the document. Perhaps insert a new page
before the page that didn't work, and tick the option to add hyperlink to
web nav bar AS you insert a new page. Then copy the elements from the page
that didn't work to the new one, and delete the old page.

Hi David,
Thank you for your response. I did this the first time before I contacted
you and it didn't work.  i did do it again, however, just to make sure I was
following your directions to the letter.  It still did not work.  By that I
mean that the nav bar did not automatically update despite my having checked
the box AS I inserted the page.  The page simply appeared ready to populate
and the nav bar stayed the same.  Is it supposed to update right then or is
there something I need to do to refresh it?  Before I contacted you (in the
depths of my frustration) I even tried going to my master page where just my
nav bar is and tried to manually create one.  That definitely did not work.  
Is there a possibility that it's the fact that I use a master page causing a
problem?

Allison,

Yep...afraid so. The master page is for print publications and should not be
used in a web publication. I am not sure of the best way to fix it either,
but you will have to get rid of the master page and recreate the nav bar.
David Bartosik wrote an article describing the process using Pub 2000, but
the principles remain the same...just ignore the 10 page limitation, and
references to Pub 2000 and you may be able to repair your original document:

It may be faster to start over with a new Pub file. One way would be to open
your existing file in Publisher, then open another instance of Publisher by
just double clicking the shortcut on your desktop again. If you started with
an existing template then open that template, and start adding pages with a
new nav bar.  Switch to your original document, copy the individual elements
you want, or perhaps group them and copy, and then paste into the new doc.
