How do i load a picture to my web site?

i am creating a site on publisher. when i publish  this site to the internet
via my FTP softeware, i get the text come up but no picture. do the pictures
have to be of certain endings e.g. JPEG? Sorry if this question seems a bit
stupid, am still learning my trade!

Publisher generates a fully functional web site. Typical newbie mistakes
include not uploading it properly - this is covered on the FAQ -

You need to use the publishing articles found on our web site here -

When published properly, it works.
