how do i make gif's work on my website using publisher 2003

I have used 97 before and changing the gif in the publish folder with the
real article before uploading made them work. However with 2003 the gifs work
at all times until uploaded to the site and then dont.

I am not real clear about what you are asking, but if you insert an animated
gif into a pub document, it should work in whatever version of Publisher
after you publish. If it quit working, then my best guess is that it is
overlapping some other element on the page, and been converted to gif
representing both elements. If that doesn't answer your question, post back
the URL and restate your question.
