I currently have an intranet site which I designed in publisher. I now have
information that needs to be updated daily AND in near real time. Is there a
way to do this in publisher?

Publisher is intended for static websites. If you need dynamic, then you
should investigate other software. However, you can also use the "Enable
incremental publish to web" feature under Web site Options to save some
time, or perhaps produce the dynamic content within a new Pub web document,
and link it to your primary site. Then you need only change that document
and publish as needed.
