I am using Publisher 2003. My site works fine with broadband. When viewed from a dial-up connection my images appear as a red x's. I am using alot of images mainly small gifs. There is one or two that work from time to time and they are not unique. I have tried even single page publishes with 1 image and dial-up will not read it.  SignatureThanks Publisher 2003 does result in slower loading images, but generally if you can see the images via broadband, you can also see them....eventually...with dial up. Perhaps you will have better luck if you use the compress images function before you publish your site. It changes after I do a disk clean up or when I delete the temporary internet files. Once I pull the site up the first time it loads slowly then it loads really fast when I refresh the screen. The graphics that are going to load, load fast. The other don't work at all. And go to Tools > Options > Web tab and deselect "Rely on VML..." and "Allow PNG...". Delete your old html files on your site and republish. I don't understand the inconsistancy of it working and then not working. If the images are to large I wouldn't think it would work at all? Is there a threshhold I should shoot for? In fact, I think you have built a pretty elaborate site and should feel pretty good about it. All the images on the pages that I looked at loaded, even using a dial-up connection. And most seemed to load in a reasonable time for Pub 2003. I don't understand your comment or question about "...tried to link some images, but..." Inconsistency?...if you delete all your temp internet pages before viewing a page, the pages will load more slowly the first time. The second time you load a page, you already have the images on your computer, so it will load more quickly. For a true comparison of loading time of different pages, always delete your temp pages before viewing... I guess I don't see any major problem, at least not with the pages I looked at. If there is a particular page or image, then post back with that URL of that page, and I'll take another look. Publisher 2003 images do load a bit slower, but you seem to have found a pretty good balance between image quality and size, and loading time, in general. You would find images loading more quickly if you import...or link to them, and bypass the Publisher coding engine. (Perhaps that was what your comment was about?) I have tried on two of the computers there and they do the same thing. When his computer is clean it works fine but as soon as he builds up temp files the page starts missing graphics(never the same graphics). I noticed that I have alot of missing alternative text and overlowing text boxes. I am fixing that. But should that cause problems??????I will also look into linking the images I guess. Also, perhaps you could increase the size of your Temp internet folder size, delete the files, and then reboot the computer(s) at the store to see if that makes any difference. It seems that your problems are more a function of your computers than the site. Overflowing text boxes should not affect your images, but overlapping images & text boxes will. It will combine the text box with the image to create a new image. Perhaps run the design checker to see if you have any instances of that happening?? As per using the import images option, I would probably concentrate on the larger, JPG images for that such as the picture of your store on your home page. Given the large number of images you have on your site, I doubt if it would be worth it to do it for every image. Perhaps temporarily add a test page to your site, and both link and embed the same image(s) side by side to see the difference in loading time and quality before you undertake linking/importing more. It seems that I am only able to link one page to one link. I have tried to do the"insert html fragment method". Its work for the main page but none of the others.
