I have a Publisher 2000 website and have a folder logon & password
protected.

It took creating a cgi-bin folder, a htpasswd and a htaccess files.

Your best source for this information is from your IP.

depends on the server and what they support or allow.

use code in pages by programing it's dangerous because even you have
encripted them hakers can go inside or get the pass.

I recomend you to use the control panel of the site and there in program the
users's access and the pass, if there are only a few people.   if not, use a
dinamic table (PHP). I have never use publisher  because it's so limited.
