I think you supplied with the information I needed. If I want to upload to
my Virtual web page, I should use something like Front Page or Dream Weaver.

No insult intended, but I am guessing that English is not your native
language, is that correct? If so perhaps this site will help:

To be more clear "a virtual hosting site" is the same as a "web hosting
service with an internet service provider (ISP)". Reference:
http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/v/virtual_host.html

So, no, you do not need to use FrontPage or Dreamweaver. One of the articles
I referenced talks about using" frontpage server extensions" (FPSE) when you
use HTTP uploading/publishing protocol, but that is not the same as using
FrontPage, the program, or DreamWeaver.

You can also upload your Publisher website using FTP protocol, or the
uploading protocol and method provided by your webhost, usually found within
the control panel. However, if you are using a form within your Publisher
website, you need to use HTTP uploading/publishing protocol.

Thanks for the insight, however my hosting service is jumpline and they haf
me set my virtual sight as /var/www/example.com. When I use that in either
the web publishing or FTP method, publisher gives and error message. I know
the virtual sight is there, because I can access it by placing it in my
network places. So, I enter my primary url www.example.com/example.com/ the
virtual sight appears, but it is not virtual since I have to use my primary
url.

James,

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you. I went to jumpline.com and they
do offer a different sort of "virtual hosting". While looking at their
support documentation, there are instructions on how to setup FTP:

, and also how to enable the FrontPage server extensions. However, I would
figure out how to FTP upload before you enable the FPSE. You won't need them
unless you are using a form in your site. They also suggest that if you log
in to the VDS manager, you can access a file manager under the Site
Management section. Here you should be able to manage the upload of your
files directly from your host.

With all that said, I am not sure why you are getting the errors that you
are, other than to say that you are probably not writing the ftp address
correctly...not including the subfolder? as part of your address. I am not
sure I am even using the correct words here, as Jumpline.com uses Virtual
Dedicated Server (VDS) Technology vs. shared. This changes the way you write
the ftp address.

If you are able to access your site through your network places, then first,
look at how you set that up, and it may give you a better understanding of
how to setup FTP. You had to enter the correct network address to get this
to work, so go to Windows Explorer and right click your network place and
look at properties. That should give you the FTP address. And more
importantly, since you can access your network place through Windows
Explorer, then why don't you just drag and drop your Publisher HTML files
and folders over that way?

If none of this gets you anyway, then I would suggest that you submit one of
the support tickets to Jumpline support, and ask for more specific
instructions on how to setup your FTP. There are some general instructions
on their website, but it didn't help me figure out how to help you. Sorry I
am not more help to you.
