Sounds like all you need is an encyclopedia.

The individual asked for a list of countries and an encyclopedia would list
them in alphabetical order. If the individual wanted something else, s/he
should have so stated.

I ran into a similar problem when searching for the names of the countries
in America; if memory serves me correctly, it exceeds fifty.

You know of 50+ countries in America? I can only think of 1.

North, Central and South America!  Canada, United States of America, The
United Mexican States (Mexico), Belize, Panama, Brazil, etc.....  That's the
reason that I am really careful when I talk about my home country.
Unfortuantely many people in the US consider themselves to be the only
country in America and this is really offensive to most other countries in
the Americas.

Yes, I can be rather US-centric but Don did say "names of the countries in
America;", not the Americas.

America, as referring to the Hemisphere. :-)

Where else has so much been named after an Italian; motto bene! Found by
Italians, explored by Italians, named after and Italian.

Ciao,

Well now Don, you know there's been a bit of discussion about who did "find"
it first.............

Yes, I know.  It took place in the great advertising lutefisk, olive oil
war.  Olive oil won by a landslide.  Seems like notables like Giovanni and
Sebastian Caboto, Father Eusebio Chino, Giovanni Beltrami, Enrico Tonti,
Alfonso Tonti, Paolo Busti and so many more "Sons of Italy'  provided
undisputable evidence the Paesani of the Motherland were awarded discovers'
rights.

Take care,
