MS Office Forum / Publisher / Web Design / September 2006Centering a web page--Pub 2000
Someone asked this question last February and no one had a satisfactory answer. I just discovered that I could start a new set of pages that are wider than my original. Then I could go to the old pages, select all for each page, and go to new set of pages and paste each page in. The page is not centered to the screen, but all my goodies are centered on the page, giving a bigger margin on each side. And there was no need to rearrange the images. It's nicer to look at now that it is not shoved completely over to the left of the browser. I did notice that some of my color choices changed when I pasted in the pages, but that was fairly easy to change. I supposed there was a way I could have set it up so that wouldn't have happened, but it's all good. hope this helps someone Take a look at these websites made with Publisher 2000. To center your site it requires to insert the html code <center> on each web page. Fortunately there is a neat little program that makes the chore easy. (It was found by one of the visitors on this site ?? May have been David) The program is, Replace In Files and you can get it at: http://www.emurasoft.com/index.htm Copy down the following input for the four boxes and save it for reference. Find: </head> Replace with: </head> <center> File Types: *.html In Folders: (Use the browse button to the location of your Publisher 2000 created html files) The four check boxes at the bottom can be left blank. Once you've used Replace In Files the information you put in the boxes is saved for future use. If you have more than one website the In Folders path it will save each on the drop down list.
