Help!!! I have designed some specialized web pages in Microsoft Publisher
2003 for a web site.Every thing comes up perfect when I preview the web site
with my Internet Explorer. However, the other person designing has FireFox. I
previewed the web pages in FireFox and everything is out of alignment. Text
that should be in on the right goes all over the page etc. I was having
problems with special Halloween text , so I saved every thing but the Times
Roman in jpg format. I figured this way people not having the fonts would be
able to view them. A suggestion I got from the Publisher 2003 help. I checked
and double checked and still it comes up funky in Firefox. I've also heard
that Netscape will give me problems. I didn't know that Publisher 2003
although very designer friendly is so uncompatible with other browsers. Is
there a way to adjust this to different browsers. Please Help. I have browser
pool so if I am told what fixes are for what problems I can probably fix it
in no time.

What is the URL of the webpage you are having problems with? Perhaps we can
offer some design changes that will have better cross browser support.

What is "browser pool"?

Hi David, browser pool is a site that lets you see your website in all major
browsers including linux. It will show you instant results of your web site
with out having to download the browsers. They offer a free edition but
paying customers get preference. The program not a bad thing. All you do is
run it choose the browzer you want to view from and add you domain name. It
shows up as if you had the real browser. I like it because I don't have to
have every browser on my computer.

Your help would be appreciated. Thanks Jen

Jen,

Thanks for the explanation about the browser pool.

Here are some things to do that might help. I would suggest that as you take
these steps, then Publish to the Web, to a folder on your hard drive,
perhaps your desktop, where you can find the files easily. Then open FireFox
and browse to the *.*htm files and open them to test.

First of all make sure you are using the Publish to the Web, instead of File
> Save As a web page.

If you are using a master page, don't. I notice when I load the page in
FireFox, that the background image results in probably the longest page I
have ever seen.

Run the Design Checker under Tools.

Go to Tools > Options > Web tab and untick "Rely on VML..." and "Allow
PNG..." and test your output. You should do this even if it doesn't solve
the problem.

Then try switching the default Encoding from what ever it is to Unicode
(UTF8), Western European (ISO), and Western European (Windows), and test
your output each time.

If these things don't work, then tell me, are you layering multiple text
boxes. I look at your borders, and don't recognize them.

You might also plan on compressing the images before you upload again. It
will make your page load more quickly. Reference: "Compress graphics file
sizes to create smaller Publisher Web
pages":

I forgot to add that it has to be downloaded to your computer.
