Publisher 2003/.
Auto synchronization is almost the most irritating thing in the program.
Anyone know how I can turn it off permanently? Thanks!

From Help:

"When you create a publication from a Publisher wizard or by using Publisher
Design Gallery Objects, the individual objects that make up that publication
are synchronized. This synchronization means that any formatting changes
that you apply to an individual element within an object will automatically
apply to the similar elements in that object."

"If Publisher applies a formatting change that you make to one element in an
object to all of the similar elements in an object, you can turn off the
synchronization and limit the change to the element that you initially
selected. On Edit menu, click Undo Synchronize. "

Or in other words, you can undo synchronization on a case by case basis, or
you can choose to not use the wizards that have this built-in function.

Sorry, That doesn't answer my question. I want to shut off synchronization
permanently. This means the program never automatically synchronizes
anything. That synchronization no longer exists when I am working on a
particular project. Ever since starting Publisher in 1997 I have never had a
need for auto synchronization. It is an irritating, glitch in the program
that could be potentially disastrous to my productivity. I need to shut it
off. Thanks!

Sorry, but it did answer your question. Maybe it just wasn't the answer you
wanted to hear. As per my last sentence "Or in other words, you can undo
synchronization on a case by case basis, or you can choose to not use the
wizards that have this built-in function". If you don't want
synchronization, then don't use the wizards. If you use the wizards, then
you can only turn it off on a case by case basis...not permanently. It is
not a glitch...it is an tool/function/feature that was not available in Pub
97. If don't like the synchronization wizard tool, then don't use it.

If you have a text box that is synchronized, then create a different text
box manually and use it instead. If you have an image box that is
synchronized, then create a different image box and use it instead.

I have used every version of Publisher since 1997. And, I did create new
boxes. I didn't use the wizard, but I used the templates. I have talked to
dozens of people that have the same problem and they all say the same thing.
Synchronization is a glitch and MS just never fixed it.

Your question has been answered. The synchronization wizard is a built-in
feature in many of the templates that you can undo on a case by case basis,
not permanently. If you want to call it a glitch, then whatever floats your
boat. I am not interested in arguing semantics.
