MS Office Forum / Publisher / Web Design / November 2007How do I get Publisher 2007 website to come up centered on monitor
I have my website finished in Pub. 2007 and the page parameters set to the correct size according to the ruler on screen, but it still comes up in both preview and published windows with a large amount of empty space on the right hand side. I wanted to scale it but I'd settle for just having it centered. Anyone know how to do this? cyndi, 3 out of the last 6 posts answers your question. Yeah - I'm new to the forum and upon asking my question initially none of these threads were visible to me. I was immediately routed to a sign up page. If you anticipate having other questions, or even want to learn some of the other FAQs, setup Outlook Express as your newsreader. This forum or newsgroup, is microsoft.public.publisher.webdesign under msnews.microsoft.com . Or even Google groups is better than what you described: http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.publisher.webdesign/topics If you get in a bind, don't let my first response turn you off to the point you don't ask a question. Here you have two options: using Custom feature where you can change the width and height of your webpage, or select webpage and change the width. I use a width 1000px and height 4608px. Changing the width will give you the ability to center your page. You can go wider if you need to. Just keep in mind that you do NOT want to make the webpage so that a user has to scroll over to read all of it. In Publisher the height is not a significant measure because whatever you put on your page, the last amount of information will end the page when you publish it. Another reminder; do not make your pages too long for the same reason--users don't need to scroll forever to see your site. The auto hyperlink features makes it easy to maneuver through your site in Publisher. View my site at www.thepuppydepotonline.com and see for yourself. I do not use HTML editor when Publisher writes it for me. Only on occasion do I insert HTML code fragment. Your method will result in the user having to scroll horizontally if the viewer has their resolution set at 800, and certainly won't be centered at 1920. In fact, your method will not center the content at any standard resolution. DavidF > Open Publisher and go to File, Page setup. I forgot to mention, you will need to move your information on the publication page over from the left margin to fill in some of the "empty space" on the right. When you do a webpage preview you can see how you need to adjust your web page.
