i'd like to be able to track the hits and get people to sign a guestbook.
Does Publisher have that capability or can I add HTML code from Bravenet?

You can add code using the insert html code fragment feature in Publisher,
but Publisher does not have built-in support for dynamic features. It is
designed to produce static pages and static content. As to hits...most web
hosts already provide that, but if you want to add something, go for it.
