Is there a way to delete and object, i.e. a navigation bar, from multiple
pages and insert a new one on multiple pages?  And do I need to create a new
bar when I insert a page and want it linked by the navigation bar?  I have
lots of pages and don't want to have to delete and paste on every page.

On the drop down menu at the top of the screen select:

Insert
Design Gallery Object
Navigation Bar (lots of options there)

It will put a new bar on all pages

I have used this function to put either a horizontal or a vertical bar on
pages when one of the other already exists, giving me both a horizontal and
vertical bar for sub menus.  all you need to do then is position them.

In addition to what Spike wrote, you can edit your navbar by clicking on the
"wand" that you see after selecting the navbar, or going to Format >
Navigation Bar Properties. You can make the changes you describe by playing
with those options, and when you add a page/insert a page, just make sure
that the option to include it in the navbar is checked.
