Hi,
This is a little weird.  I have made a publisher web page and published it
to the web BUT for some reason it is left aligned and I can't (or don't know
how) to make it so its centered on the web site.
Thank for your help.

Publisher by default creates left aligned sites.  You could post which
version of Publisher to see if anyone knows of a way to center it.  I use
Publisher 2000 which can be centered fairly easily.

Thanks.  I'm using Publisher 2007.  Maybe I can do the same as you did for
2000?
Love to try anyway, there must be a way.
Thanks again for responding.

I could help you if it were Publisher 2000 but others here may be able to
help you with 2007.  Some say it can be done; others say no.

So far no one else has jumped in.  I would appreciate you at least trying.
If its possible in 2000 maybe it can be done in 2007.  I'm at my wits end!

The coding is completely different in websites created with Publisher later
than 2002.  But here is my canned response for 2000 and 2002 users.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This works only for websites created with Publisher 2000 & 2002.  There are
other fixes for other versions of Publisher.  Sorry, I don't have them.

Each of your html files requires adding the <center> code after the existing
</head> code.

You can go into each html file and do it manually or get the free
ReplaceInFiles program and make it an easy chore.

"ReplaceInFiles" can be downloaded from:

<http://www.emurasoft.com/index.htm>

The four boxes require the following information:

Find: </head>
Replace with: </head> <center>
File Types: *.html
In Folder:
(use the button to go to the folder where the html files are located on your
hard drive)

The bottom four boxes can be left blank.

Note: Once the boxes are filled out and the "Replace all" is selected, the
entries are retained for the next time you use the program.

P.S.  One of the kind visitors of this news group told us of ReplaceInFiles
program some time ago; 'Sorry I forgot the individual's name. (Another
unsung hero).

Thanks a lot.  Not sure if I understand all that but I will try.  In the
meantime I took your advice and reposted asking for help with pub. 2007.
Thanks again.

Okay - hopefully last stupid question.  What you sent me looks fairly easy
BUT in the "in folder" option... all my stuff is in the website.pub file.  I
tried to send it there but it came back after replace all changing 0 strings
and files.  Can I try something else.  Not sure where the actual files are,
as I said they just seem to be in the .pub file on my desktop.
Sorry for the bugging.

Publisher 2000 doesn't create any folders; it creates an index.html for the
first page and then a page2.html, page3.html etc plus several image files.
The procedure to center, if it can be done in Publisher 2007 is completely
different.  Most folks here I think will advise you use Front Page or other
website creating program.  If you are certain you want to create a website
with Publisher,  my advice is, get Publisher 2000 from eBay.  I saw earlier
it's selling for +/- $30.

To see what a Publisher 2000 website that is centered looks like, you are
invited to visit www.vanusa.org

Good luck

Guess you were right.  I manually did what you said but it made the page
right aligned even though I added <center>.  Guess I'll try frontpage or
maybe the new
Microsoft Expression Web (any thoughts on that program?)

Sorry, no experience with either one.

EW is very good...there will be a learning curve though.
And..what was done in Publisher will NOT be usable, if you're thinking of
converting the Pub web.

Using the program "replace in files" I found a common point of replacement
that appears
to work for me for Publisher 2007.     http://www.emurasoft.com/replall/
source for program

Sine the background changes from one publication to another I found the
closest commonality after <body>.
That turned out to be       </v:background></xml><![endif]-->    for me

Since "replace in files" needs to have the entire text on one line I made
the replacement string as shown below.

Takes two runs of     "replace in files"
Once the strings are typed in it just takes selecting the ones you want with
the drop down arrow for Find and Replace With

Replace in files settings:

Find   =   </v:background></xml><![endif]-->

Replace With    =  </v:background></xml><![endif]--><table border="0"
cellpadding="0" cellspacing="2" width="760" align="center"><tr><td>

ALL the above on one line

NOTE:  760 is the pixel width of the page I used,  change it to match your
own pixel width

Find       </body>

Replace With     </td></tr></table></body>

Spike,

Thanks. I quoted you in the other thread to this OP. ;-)

Rob was asking to see a Pub 2003 or 2007 site that is centered. Would you
mind posting a link to your site if it is centered?

Thanks again.

I used this method on the following pub 2007 site:
www.technicalsystemsaz.com
