I'm looking for a piece of software/script (preferebly PHP) that will
allow me to post items up in categories for people to rate and review,
each article will have "A Title" "An Image" & "A Description" plus an
area for people to discuss or review the product... This in it's self
isn't that hard with many CRM/Blog products but... I want visual
navigation, once a user enters a category I wasn't them to see a list
of thumbnails and titles from which they can choose.

Finally I need to do this for free so I'm looking for a GPL or
equivalent piece of software.

Thanks in advance
Mike

Well beyond the scope of what Publisher can do. Look to a forum type
software like phpbb or something along those lines.

I'd check first with your host, a lot of times they offer these products for
free (phpbb is free anyway).

Thanks, but I already considered a lot of Buliten Boards, CRM Apps,
Galleries, & Shopping Carts (The entire Fantastico Range pretty
much)...

Basically I need the navigation of a Shopping Cart with the
Customisability and Resources of A CRM package :(

Any other Ideas?

Mike

That's why I was thinking of a forum type thing, one with a photo mod that
viewers can comment on...other than that I'm drawing a blank.

For sure though...this is far beyond the scope of a Publisher generated
website.

I'm starting to think I may end up having to write and design the site
myself and mod it with a comment script on each page, it just seems
like too much hard work to maintain such a site when PHP is available
but alas I don't know how to program PHP/MySQL from scratch and
include enough security not to get hacked :(

The closest match to what I need is amazon.com but without the
purchasing functionality and of course it isn't free lol

you really should play with one of the php forum/portal programs with a
photo gallery mod...it'd probably get you 90% where you want to be. Also
many of them have excellent help forums where you may get help with mods
that will get you the rest of the way.

check with your host, many of them have php forum/portal programs that they
will install for free at the push of a button...nothin' to lose.
