Cannot get Publisher to recognize my url. Im on a LAN
could that be a problem? Spent 12hours researching with
no luck! Please help

I walked through your tutorial step by step...when I
export as webpage and type in my web address I get a
message saying that the URL could not be found, other
hosts work IE: msn .net so I dont think its a network
issue. I can access my publisher files by logging into
the admin center and then uploading from there...so I
saved my web page as a html file in my docs and then
uploaded from the internet admin center. Although that
didnt work as planned). upload didnt include any of the
picture files. IM A BIT FUSTRATED AT THIS POINT. BUT I
WILL WIN THIS BATTLE EVENTUALLY! THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU
HAVE TIME FOR.

You most likely are using the incorrect URL, I stress in the tutorial that
you need to get the URL from the host. Not all hosts use the domain name.
And some hosts use different URL's for ftp and http. Triple check "with the
host provider" what the ftp URL is and the http URL (if they support http).
Then be sure you use the correct one in the correct manner.

Also, it sounds like your host provides it's own upload client. In such a
case you should verify "with the host provider" that they support publishing
with other tools and not require you to use theirs (not unheard of!).

When doing your own upload you must include the sub folder, this is
mentioned in the tutorial. If you don't want to have a sub folder and thus
worry about uploading it you can turn it off and do a new export (directions
in tutorial).

I am using bcentral as host provider and have used the
URL exactly as they say on there site http:/mywebsite.com
and also http:/mywebsite.com.bcentralhost.com Publisher
will not find the URL on either http address. I have
email support....they reset frontpage extensions and told
me to make sure I used the correct url. This did not
help. WOULD LINKSYS CAUSE ANY ISSUES? Although I have
tried to access the site from three different cpus, one
of which wasnt on my home network. Or maybe my local ISP
may be causing problems? All cpus were on DSL.

If you want me to try and assist you I would next need to try and reproduce
your issue. That means you would need to send me the .pub file, and tell me
the version you are using, and tell me the domain name and provide your urls
and all your uploading information.

I received your pub file and your uploading information. I then reproduced
that the site could not be published to your web server. I received the
error that a connection to the server could not be made. I got this error
before even being prompted for the accounts username and password.
This was obviously NOT a Publisher issue, but rather a server issue. The
inability to make a connection and create a Network Place is not program
specific.

On your behalf I contacted your web host (bCentral) support department via
email and I informed them of the problem of the server failing for your
account, instructing them to correct the problem and respond back to me.

2 days later I received the following response from your host:

Hello David,

Thank you for contacting us. Our administrators have reported that they have
fixed the issue. Please try publishing again.

______________________________________

After which I successfully published your site http://daylightsprings.com

So your issue is resolved.

Please note:
upon reviewing your site BEFORE I attempted my publishing, I saw you are
using Pub 2002 in it's original form. Your home page was 187 kb in size. The
version of your home page I published is 12kb.

I urge you to install service packs 1 and 2. Please refer to my site for all
the documentation regarding the issues with 2002 and the service packs.
