I used a web template from publisher 2003 to create a
website.  I also included about 16 pictures(they are less
than 15k each and saved as a web picture)They look great
when in preview mode but when loaded on the server none
of my pictures or graphics from the template are there.
What's wrong?  I've checked them in Dreamweaver which is
the HTML program that the webmaster has and they look
fine in this program and in the viewer but they still
don't show up on the web.  Do I need to hyperlink each
picture to the page to get them to show up? You can see
the work in progress at: http://www.stjohns-
umc.org/children.htm then click on preschool. Any help
would be great
Regards,
Barbara

Most likely you failed to upload the image files. A common mistake covered
on my FAQ page at www.davidbartosik.com/faq.htm
I recommend uploading with Publisher and not a third party tool to avoid
such errors, refer to the upload tutorial at www.davidbartosik.com/ppt.htm

Your home page must be named index.htm

Pub 2003 defaults to that.

if you changed the home page name to newmdo.htm that would be incorrect.

The file folder of pages and images IS OPTIONAL. I cover turning it off in
the tutorial. If you use it it does name after the home page name.

Image files are not named with a .htm extension. Web pages are .htm, images
are .gif, or .jpg, or .png. The tutorial shots are from version 2002 which
had a different file naming convention from 2003.

Never change anything to the files that Publisher creates. Doing so will
disable the sites functionality.

All changes are done in Publisher and then you create new files from the pub
file.

I went through your tutorial and found it very good. I however I still have
a problem uploading my pictures. When I did my save as html, I had one file
called newmdo.htm and a file folder with all the images for newmdo inside.
These images are just called image001.htm, image002.htm etc. They do not
have newmdo image001 as your picture showed in the ppt slide number 23. Do I
have to go into the file folder and type newmdo in front of each image to
get them to be associated with the newmdo.html doc? Or do I have to have all
the images outside of the file folder like you had on your slide 23.

Thanks for your help!!

Barbara
