Based on previous advice you gave me about correcting
some design errors in my Publisher website file, I have
been able to upload a website successfully; I have since
added three more pages and sucessfully uploaded them, but
subsequently when I've tried to upload using three
different domain names provided by the web host, I get
the following error messages on all of them. Being the
expert you are, maybe you can tell me what's going on. I
want to rule out any Publisher file problems.
One error message I get after a few seconds is: "The file
[domain name] is locked because it is being used by
another program [no other programs running except my
internet connection]. Please close the other program and
then try opening or importing the file again." The
second message I get is after the uploading process
grinds on for 20 minutes (it usually takes just a couple
of minutes). That message says "Publisher cannot save
the file to the Web. Check your URL or network
connection and try again." I'd like to rule out any
errors in the Publisher file. I've already tried to
resolve it with tech support at the web hosting service
and the ISP and they blame each other. Thanks as always
for your valuable input.

The first error I've never encountered and sounds like an issue on the
hosting server.
The second error is known but has been difficult to pin down, could be a
number of things.
First I'd need details...
what version of Publisher?
are you publishing in Pub's ftp mode or http mode (network places)?
are FrontPage extensions installed on the host server?
have you tried BOTH ftp and http modes?
are you using a dial-up or broadband ISP service?
