I haven't had such an issue in over 2 years of running WinXP Pro and
ZoneAlarm firewall. But if your firewall is stripping the data from files
I'd bet you're using Norton.
(Known for it's overly aggressive tactics, if Norton had it's way it'd be
the only software loaded on the pc)

Using Zone Labs Integrity Check v3.5.175 and Xp Build 2600, however once I
turn off the firewall animated gifs are animated again.
