Publisher 2000-Web site saved as 4 sections-uploads incorrectly

I created a 27 page website in Pub 2000.  At a certain
point, the program locked up refusing to let me save.  I
broke the site into 4 sections (each a diff pub file).
When saving them as html, the first section was fine.
The other sections freaked out and created multiple
distorted pages (images are distorted and misplaced).  I
went through and  deleted the junk that didn't belong in
each section.  However, when uploading the 'cleaned out'
2nd, 3rd, 4th sections, they freaked out again and look
distorted, misplaced.  Help!!  What can I do to get the
other sections uploaded correctly?  Thank you!!

You have to read http://www.davidbartosik.com/pub2k/pub2k_6.htm !!!

You're not publishing the sections to separate folders.

Thus with each section upload you are over-writing some of the files which
then gives you "distorted pages".

For example (covered in my article) each section would have an image named
"image0001.gif"

When you publish section 2 that "image0001.gif" over-writes the first one.
When you publish section 3 that "image0001.gif" over-writes the one from
section 2.
and so on and so on....

Actually, I had read the article you referred to - in
fact, that is where I borrowed the idea of publishing
them seperately.  I am publishing the sections to their
own folders - seperate folders.... Any other suggestions?
I appreciate anything you can offer....

looks like you're just a couple hours north of me. small world.

Firstly I found nothing wrong with the site.
If you are seeing something different in your browser than what's supposed
to be there you should empty the browser cache, you may just have some old
versions of pages saved depending on your browser cache settings. To delete
cache in IE go to Tools, Internet Options, Delete Files.

Secondly I found no subfoldered pages.
I only found links that stayed at the root domain.
So nothing for me to review there.

Some recommendations:
- I saw lots of empty cells in your pages, I recommend you read
http://www.davidbartosik.com/pub2k/pub2k_4.htm

( my page is a subfolder page btw, see the /pub2k/ ?)

- name the page files, see http://www.davidbartosik.com/pub2k/pub2k_5.htm
it makes it look professional.

- drop the animation and splashy flashy stuff. it tends to look amatuerish,
and visitors go to a site for info, flashy stuff can be a turn-off.

Wow - we must practically be neighbors!  Are you located
in Kansas City?

Most likely when you looked at my site this morning I had
already removed the distorted files.  I did, however,
empty the browser cache as you suggested just in case
that might be an issue. Unfortunately, it didn't change
how the files appeared.

Also because I removed the 2nd, 3rd & 4th sections this
morning, you would not have seen any subfolders.

I was also messing with the graphics this morning, so the
empty cells were most likely because of that.  If you
look now, everything viewable should be ok.  Please let
me know if you still see empty cells.

I'll work on achieving a more professional look - I do
appreciate your suggestions.

Now, I'd like to revisit the core problem.  I might re-
emphasize that the files first became distorted when I
saved the 2nd, 3rd & 4th .pub file as a web page (as
html).  In addition to the correct page files and images,
there were several distorted page files with distorted
images completely misplaced.

I went through the html files and deleted the distorted
junk, leaving only the correct pages/images to upload.
When I viewed the uploaded files in my file manager,
everything looked fine, however, when viewing under the
URL, they are again distorted.

What could be causing the distortion for the 2nd, 3rd &
4th sections when I convert them to html?

Thanks so much for your help - and your patience!
Regina

you went thru the html files?
you should not be editing html files.
if you are modifying the html that would explain issues.

otherwise, without my knowing the exact steps you are going thru in
publishing each section and having a url to review I have nothing to work
off of.
