I have been using Microsoft Picture It Publishing for several years.  The
program came installed on my Dell computer.  Last week my Dell died and I
just bought a Gateway.  Both had Windows XP.  I can install it on the Gateway
but if I try to open anything old or start anything new, it just crashes
completely.  I have hundreds of saved documents that I can't even open now.
Please help.  Also, if I try to register or seek any help on it, Microsoft
tells me that "the page no longer exists".

Is there an error message?

Try the compatibility tab, right-click the program icon, properties.
See if turning off your anti-virus software makes a difference.
Do you have success in safe mode?

There are many Knowledge Base articles devoted to PictureIt! Publishing, most
involve error messages.

This fixed it:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=316861

Apparently there is a patch for the problem.  (My Gateway has too much RAM)
I just downloaded the patch, it installed on its own, and now the problem is
fixed!  Thank you so much.  I love this program.  I know it so well I could
use it in my sleep.

By the way, there was an error message when I first tried using the newly
re-installed program, but I think it only showed up once.  I do remember it
having pip.exe in it.  But after the first time, the error message never
showed up again.

Thanks for the update.

If you continue to have problems/errors...
post them and maybe we can find a fix.

I am absolutely amazed that I had this problem, posted my cry for help (and
on a Saturday!), and I actually got my fix within an hour or so.  Thank you
so very much.

Now if AOL's customer service would be half as good, I'd be in perfect shape!
