Can anyone help me. I,m currently working on a publication that is 31000kb
long. Up until 3 days ago it was running ok. Now everytime I try to add
anything or edit the program takes agaes to respond and the screen freezes
for up to a minute.
Mary Sauer - 24 Jun 2006 12:38 GMT
Video/graphics driver?
Go to the manufacturer's web site of your graphics card and look around for an
updated driver.

Read the third FAQ here about the adapter acceleration.

Thank you  for your reply however I got the size of my publication wron it is
27.6 mb long and only includes clip art and some pictures will this slow it
down or should i try what you suggested. it is getting to thge point where I
cnat do anything in the publication without the screen freezing. Do you know
if there is a limitation to how big a publisher file can be.

A Publisher file can be 2 GB. I do believe you are experiencing a graphics
driver problem. It isn't too difficult installing a new driver.

Do a disk cleanup. Keep your Office setup files

Description of the Disk Cleanup Tool in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310312/

Might check the virtual memory

1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab.
3. In the Performance pane, click Settings.
4. In the Performance Options dialog box, click the Advanced tab.
5. In the Virtual memory pane, click Change.
6. Change the Initial size value and the Maximum size value to a higher value,
click Set, and then click OK.
7. Click OK to close the Performance Options dialog box, and then click OK to
close the System Properties dialog box

Does that mean you are running the most current driver or that you couldn't
find anything?

I have tried everything you suddested and i cant fin catalyst 6.1 for windows
xp that driver is for windows 2000. I still have the problem. do you think
this could be caused by any other peoblems as when i work on this publisher
file on other pcs they work fine and it is the same program as i transfer via
a usb data carrier. would uninstalling xp and rebooting my pc help.I'm now
getting to the point where I will be in serious trouble with the printers if
I cant make the deadline.

That's odd, because I went to the link and it linked me through to
downloads for Windows XP, including the latest version of CATALYST.

I have now successfully downloaded catalyst 6.1. However my computer would
not allow me to run this driver and has reverted to using the original driver
please advise on how i can run this or any other option that may be available
to me.

is catalyst 6.6 a valid driver for my graphic card.

Read the support documents on the ATI web site.
Do a disk clean-up...
Open My Computer, right-click your hard drive, properties, click disk clean up.
Keep your Office setup files.
Empty your temporary cache, in Internet Explorer, tools, Internet Options,
delete files.

Buggy, I suspect your ATI is integrated on your motherboard.
http://www.ati.com/buy/promotions/radeonxpressmobo/index.html

If the above is correct then Catalyst 6.6 is your driver.

Thank you for all your help but UNFORTUNATELY the problem still exists.

I take it that the Catalyst 6.6 driver automatically takes over when
installed.

Did you re-boot?
To find out if the installation was successful, control panel, display folder,
settings tab, advanced button, adapter tab, properties button, drivers tab. The
version number should be 6.6.

What is your motherboard? Have you checked for a BIOS update? Intel has
downloads for acceleration on their site.

Buggy,
Does HP offer updates?
I can absolutely guarantee this is not an Office problem. Maybe you have a
corrupt image. Are all your files running slow?
What is the model number of your HP computer?
