In publisher, how do you emphasize (larger font, in color) initia.

At one point, I discovered that I could make the initial letter of paragraphs
larger and of a contrasting color, but I cannot now find how to do so.

In Publisher 97, it's under Format, Fancy First Letter.  (drop caps)

It is Drop Caps in later versions as well. The color choice is in the Drop Cap
dialogue.
