Okay...all of the files I have restored to my documents are listed as PHP
files and won't open anywhere. How do I change them back to PUB files.
I saved them to my pocket drive as 2003 pub files before my hard drive was
erased. Now I need to open them in vista with 2007.
Any ides about what I am doing wrong and why I can't open anything?

Just taking a little break might help. Take a deep breath....
Harder to think and figure things out when stressed.
I know that's not the answer to opening the files, but have learned from
personal experience sometimes just letting it go, the answer(s) come.
I'm trying to think, I changed to Pub 2007 and had my files from 03 saved
on DVDs (to save space on the hd)
But they were PUB files. Some I have opened in 07 and I think a box comes
up saying it's different and some formatting might change or be different.
When it says OPEN WITH and there's no Publisher, isn't there a link to
browse and find it? Like in C>Program Files.
I put the question/problem into google to see what's there (I was curious
to find out) and came up with a few posts, but not sure I understand them.
It almost sounds like you didn't save the files in Pub 2003 like you
thought.

Both John and Ed answered this in 2006 so if they can't help you now,
maybe there's something in the ng search you can find about it.

.php files are NOT Publisher files. That's PictureIt Publishing - a
completely different program and not compatible with Publisher.

=============================================
Microsoft Publisher 2003 is not compatible with .php files.
Are you absolutely positive the files were created with Microsoft
Publisher and not Microsoft Home Publishing?
If the files were created in MS Publisher 2003...there is a
slim chance that changing the file extensions to .pub would
be worth a try.
Could you upload one of the files to the following site so we
could download it and experiment with it?
"YouSendIt"
http://www.yousendit.com/
All you have to do is enter an e-mail
address in the "To:" (Recipient) field
and click the "Browse" button to select
the file you wish to upload. Then click
the "Send It" button.
The next screen that appears will give
you the download link. Just copy/paste
it into your newsgroup reply.
