new print range for changed page numbers

I have a 300-page document consisting of numerous Publisher 2003 files. I use
the "insert section" process to change the "start" page numbers of each file
so they will number consecutively in the final, printed document. When I want
to print a specific page range (from the file>print>print range screen),
however, unless I remember what the page numbers were before I changed them,
I'm printing by trial and error before I finally print the page(s) I want. Is
there a way to make the page numbers in the print screen dialog box match the
page numbers on the page sorter tabs at the bottom of the screen in the
Publisher status bar? I don't remember having this problem with Publisher
2000.--

Go to the page where you want the print to end, make note of the page number, go back
to the page you want the print to start. This will be your range.
You can see as many as six pages at once in the print preview, this maybe helpful.

I must not have explained the situation correctly. For example: Originally,
the file page numbers might be 5-67. After I change the page numbers, using
insert section, etc., the page numbers might be 13-89. If I don't remember
what the original page number was of a specific page I want to print (e.g.,
the "new" page number 43), when I go to file>print, if I say I want to print
page 43, it would be whatever was on the "old" page number 43, not the "new"
page 43, because the available print range in the print screen dialog does
not correspond to the revised page numbers. Is there a way to make the print
screen dialog page numbers match the page numbers on the document's page
sorter tabs in the status bar?

I tried to do this with a publication I set up. I feel your pain. Long documents such
as you have are probably better created in Word. Maybe this will be addressed in the
next version of Publisher. I know this is no consolation.  Is it too late to paste
all of your work into Word?

Unfortunately, we really need the flexibility of a desktop publishing program
for this document. We previously used PageMaker, but switched to MS Pub last
year because of problems bringing in Access reports. If you know anyone with
any clout at MS, please recommend they address this in their next Publisher
version. Thanks for the response -- at least I know I'm not overlooking
something obvious.
