I often need to translate Publisher files to a format that suits a web
page.

Currently I have a Publisher file that when I attempt to open it
brings a dialogue box that advises:

"  ..  ..  embedded objects need to be updated  ..  ..  ..  "

If I click on the "Yes" option I get a message that Publisher cannot
open the file.

If I click on "No" the file opens with some images missing.

What did the author do to cause this?

Thanks,

The assumption is the author did not embed the objects, he/she linked them to a file
on their computer.

Mary Sauer <gsauer@mycolumbus.rr.com> was very recently heard to utter:

I would say that the objects must have been OLE objects, as Publisher keeps
an embedded copy of all linked objects within the file to prevent situations
such as that described from occurring.
