Hidden Text in Table Cells with Bullets and Numbering

Text in the last (or only) paragraph of a table cell that is marked with both
Bullets and Numbering (either), and also with the Hidden Text font attribute
will print the bullet or number for the paragraph.

The bullet or number will 'disappear' if there is a paragraph mark at the
end of the text, but not if the text ends with the end-of-cell mark.

This has been tested in the latest patches of Word 2002 and Office Word
2003, and is easily reproduceable:
Table > Insert > Table [OK]
Type: "This is a test"
[Tab] [Shift-Tab]
Format > Bullets and Numbering [select any bulleted or numbered item in the
gallery] [OK]
Format > Font > Alt-H [Hidden Text] [OK]
File > Print Preview...

Voila -- visible bullet!

The paragraph takes on the default formatting of the Table if you remove the
final paragraph mark and leave just the end of cell mark. It's not
considered a bug but a 'design feature'. I believe that it was the same in
Word 2000 too.

What you need to do is to use a STYLE for the paragraph format: the style
will need to be a bulleted paragraph with the bullet formatted as hidden
text. Then it will work.
