Find and replace does not work in one document, but does in others

Trying to edit a document with find and replace that was created in MS Office
Pro 2000 but now being edited in MS Office 2003. Find and replace does not
work at all! (Document is not protected) Has anyone had this problem before
and what did you do about it?

When you say "Does not work at all", can you be more precise? For example,
are you saying that it's missing from the menu? That choosing Edit/Find or
pressing the assigned shortcut doesn't work? Or, are you saying that when
you type text into the textboxes in the Find/Replace dialog boxes that Word
can't find what you type?

mine doesn't work at at all. It "flashes" and disappears. Any ideas?
