can't open word doc that is lock in pdf

When I recieved an email I tried to open it with adobe
acrobat not knowing it was a word doc. Now I cannot open
it at all even after they have sent it numurous times
after I deleted the document that I had tried to open in
pdf format. Please help me with this

How are you trying to open the file? Directly from the email? If so
can you save the attachment to your local drive and open in Word using
File/Open?
