Hello, I have microsoft office 2003. and I have  about 500+ word file on my pc.
now I cant open any of these documents, Word load, in the status bar show
the charachter counting"xxxx characters, approximate value)" and it stop
there.. it does not continue to load.

if I move any of these word documents to another computer, it open just fine!
if I open Word, I can create new document and re-open it, I can open word
documents on floppy or CD.

the program work fine, and the document are good, they just dont work fine
on the same pc! :S

I tried to delete the normal.dot template, deleted the registry key. I did
repair-install the office, remove-reinstall the office and still have the
same problem!
I scaned for viruses, no viruses found.

ANYMORE IDEAS PLEASE?

Have you tried using the Open and Repair option for the particular document?

Are you trying to open the document directly from a floppy or CD? If
so, can you open it when you copy it to your local drive?

Working directly off of removable media is of the leading causes for
document corruption. You should copy the file to your local drive,
make your modifications, and then copy it back to the removable media.

Hello and thank you for replying.

I cant open all the 500+ document and repair.
but if I copy any of these documents to anoter pc, it works fine.
the Word document on the CD or Floppy works fine, whether I open it from the
removable media or I copy it to the hard disk!

its just that the old files (already exists on the pc) cant open on that
specific pc!

Can you start Word without opening a document and create a new one?

If the error occurs when you start Word then take a look at this
article for troubleshooting steps:
