I composed a document in 2007 Word Beta 2 and then tried to open it with Word
2003. Upon opening it the text smeared as I scrolled through and the
background on the front page was black. Was this an error on my part or is
there a bug in the reverse compatibility currently? I did try saving it under
a couple different forms with the same results.

Hi Bolt,

Was this a document you saved in the legacy Word (.doc) format or one you saved in Word 2007 (.docx) format.  If the latter, I'm
assuming you have the Office2007 compatability/converter twinpack installed.

If the document itself is intact it could be that your graphics card driver needs an update (Word has been one of the tougher tests
on drivers over the years <g>).  See if turning down the graphic card acceleration 2 clicks makes a difference when you restart Word
2003.
